Creative Ways To Use Chimichurri Sauce

Food & Cooking Blog

If you like cooking with bold, unique flavors, consider working chimichurri sauce into your recipes. This Argentinian sauce and condiment is sure to give any of your favorite savory dishes an instant boost of flavor.

Chimichurri sauce is made with fresh, flavorful ingredients such as extra-virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, garlic cloves, parsley, oregano, and salt and pepper to taste. Experiment by adding a variety of fresh herbs, especially in the summertime when your garden is in bloom.

If you don't have time to make your chimichurri sauce, however, you can buy it from a local or online retailer. You may even get a discount if you buy the sauce in bulk online. This will come in handy if you plan on using the sauce to enhance an event menu and need a large amount of it.

While chimichurri sauce is typically used to spice up meat, such as steak, there are many other ways to incorporate it into other recipes. Here are some creative ideas to get you started:

1. Add to Soups and Stews

An easy way to add instant pizazz to almost any type of soup or stew, such as French onion or vegetable beef, is to add a dollop or two of chimichurri sauce. If the soup or stew doesn't have much flavor, the sauce will liven it up.

You can even slow-cook pork or beef in chimichurri sauce in a crock pot, and then use it to make a tasty stew. Add vegetables for a well-rounded lunch or dinner.

2. Use as a Topping

Think outside of the bun when thinking of new ways to top burgers and sandwiches. Substitute chimichurri sauce for ketchup and mustard on a hamburger, hot dog, or grilled sausage. Use the sauce in place of mayonnaise or other condiments on a sandwich as a surprising twist.

You can also mix chimichurri into mashed potatoes to add bright flavor. This will work well when serving the potatoes alongside meat such as steak, chicken, or pork. If you're a seafood lover, drizzle some of the green sauce over grilled shrimp, scallops, or salmon.

3. Serve With Eggs

Add a flavor kick to any type of eggs, such as scrambled or sunny-side up, with chimichurri sauce. While eggs taste bland on their own, adding the sauce will make them a gourmet treat. You can also drizzle the sauce over any type of omelet, and serve during a brunch event.

Teaching Your Kids To Cook

After I had kids, I realized that there were some serious issues with the way we were eating. We started enjoying healthier meals, but I still wanted to make the process fun and interesting for our children. To make things better, I started cooking with my kids instead of for my kids. It was really cool to watch their faces light up as we made pizza or learned more about how ice cream was really made. I decided to start a little website that centered around teaching kids to cook, because they can help in the kitchen too. I hope you enjoy these articles!
